"Campaign Steering Committee Approves
Capital Appeal
Goals"
Nearly 50 campaign leaders from St. James parish gathered on April 13 to approve our campaign prayer and logo, and to set campaign goals. After much discussion, the committee determined that it is best for St. James to set two goals for the capital appeal. Our Celebration Goal of $1.9 million will retire the parish debt and pay all the costs associated with the campaign. Our Alleluia Goal is more challenging and is set at $2.25 million. When we reach the Alleluia Goal, we can retire the entire parish debt, pay costs associated with the debt and campaign, and begin the planning process of building a larger church.
The cost associated with planning a larger church will include contracting
with architects and church building consultants. However, it was noted at
the meeting that there is a lot of work to be done before we start hiring
experts. Fr. Tom mentioned that we want to spend the next couple of years
conducting discussions with all the different groups in the parish to identify
what are the parish needs for a larger worship space. Fr. Tom also underscored
our priority to keep this process a parish-wide one and to keep parishioners
informed throughout the process.
