June Newsletter for St. James Knights of Columbus

Grand Knight Report:

First off I hope that each one of you had a great holiday weekend spent with your families.  Let us continue to remember those who have lost their lives to protect what we take for granted.

First Degrees will be happening again this month.  Smithville will be having theirs every second Thursday of every month.  Excelsior Springs has been rumored to be having one before the fraternal year ends, I will keep our membership team updated.  Once again if you know someone who is waiting to get in the first degree please consider being their proposer.

Due to the small attendance at the May meeting we will be conducting nominations and elections both at the June 11th meeting.  Please bring yourselves along with your nominations to this meeting.  If you know a Knight who hasn’t been to a meeting in a while, encourage them to come and offer them a ride if they need it.  Also I am in the process of contacting the Ladies so they can have their elections the same time we have ours.

Thanks to those Knights who helped with Appreciation Dinner with Cecilia for the catechists of the church.  We received a nice card from Cecilia and she and her husband plan on making us a snack for our next meeting.

Janey’s Over the Next Hill” ride is set for June 25th.  If you would like to help out with this event please reply to this newsletter.  This ride is a very worthy cause, it is for our ladies at the Immaculata Manor.  They will have a stop in Kearney so we will have to place a few knights there as well as their last stop at the manor where we helped out with parking the bike last year.  This is a fun event so email your Grand Knight if you would like to help!  (ssouder@uniteone.net)

The Parish Feast Day is happening on Tuesday July 25th.  They are going to be doing things a little different this year then they have in the past.  We will need 5-6 knights to help out with cooking and serving hot dogs and nachos.  This would be an excellent opportunity for some of our new knights to get their feet wet;)

Liberty’s Relay for Life is July 28th at 7pm to July 29th 7am at the Liberty High School track.  I cannot stress to you guys enough that we need your help.  We have a team and we need more participation.  Each team member will get a packet and you are asked to raise $100 or more.  If you take the packet to your job and ask your friends and co-workers for a small donation, $100 will come easy!  If you would like to walk an hour or more please join my team online at http://www.acsevents.org/libertymorfl .   Our team name is St. James Knights of Columbus.  If you have some trouble with doing this and you would like to join my team, call me at (816)903-1988 or email me.

Finally, at the next meeting we will also be taking a count of how many tickets we will need to get as a council for the T-Bones game.  Not sure of exact date but I believe it is the last Saturday evening in August.  Please find out how many tickets each of you will need and bring your numbers to the next meeting.  Tickets are $13.
