May 2005 Newsletter

- This is a relatively slow month but an important month, elections are around the corner and must be completed this or next month.  This is also a 5th Sunday month we need a volunteer to head up the breakfast BECAUSE of my next statement.

- I want to thank you who have helped my wife and I during this time.  For those of you who did not know, Janet had a stroke on April 12th, the doctors say she will have a full recovery within +/- 2-4 months,  We thank you for your prayers - which reminds me - check out the prayer request area of our web page.

- Next, we have an excellent recruitment opportunity to bring in approximately 6-8 candidates from this last class of the RCIA.  The problem, I have, is a scheduling conflict, in that my graduating daughter, April, is having a G-Party on that same day and roughly the same time Noon – May 15th.  I am building a PowerPoint presentation for this event and would like to get two or three Knights to step up and do this presentation.  I will provide my laptop and Sandra Landuyt is looking into the church allowing us the use of their computer projector and screen.  Also my laptop is hooked up to the church’s wireless network so we can access the Knights of Columbus web pages from just about anywhere in the parish complex.  RCIA is one of the best places to get new members who are ready to make a difference within our parish.  Who will step up?  I will inform you on time on the 15th.

- Elections – Nominations & Appointments, to date (from my recollection, HA!)  for positions are as follows:

Grand Knight - John Talbot or Shawn Souders

Deputy Grand Knight – Shawn Souders (will accept if John Talbot is voted as GK)

If I missed your name I apologize.  Please note, that nominations will close at this meeting so be at this meeting for sure.

- Go to the respective web page to obtain or print a copy of the calendar.  To print full HTML page, from the print dialog box, go landscaped, remove headers and footers and make margins as small as possible to get the full page

- Again, we must all start thinking “who will be leading the council next term”, I am stepping down after two years as your Grand Knight (GK) to refocus on my family and business but I will be assuming the responsibilities of the Financial Secretary for a three year term, if appointed.  We have two nominations for GK at this time, if you wish to nominate someone or wish to run for this position please go to the “Inquiry” and let your GK know ASAP.

- Our First Degree Team had our initial kickoff meeting and we made officer assignments.  We are going to try to have our first practice session in early June.  Stay tuned for more info.. .    If you would like to be an understudy for one of the positions get with me.  We will finalize the next date, time and the St Gasper Room at our next meeting.  If you have volunteered to be on this team please attend this meeting.

- Planning ahead –We are planning a “T” Bones ball game as a District wide event (for Knights and families).  This event is planned for Aug 27th 7:00PM game on the third base side (Shaded).  An online signup can be used with the “inquiry button” on our web page, so start planning for this fun summer event.  Note all clergy are encouraged to attend “on the Knights” (free).  Cost $12.00 per person which includes good food and drinks and possibly door prizes.  GET YOUR RESERVATIONS IN FIRST because first come, first reserved – only 250 tickets will be purchased.

- As voted on during our last meeting the May 8th meeting has been moved to the 15th because of Mothers Day.  Some of us will be attending a special Mass and reception for graduating Seniors on Mothers Day.
