May Newsletter for St. James Knights of Columbus

Grand Knight Report-

First and foremost thank you to all who have helped with the events of the past few months.  We are one body, together with God we can accomplish anything!

We have a First Degree coming up on Thursday May 11th at Smithville.  The candidates should be there at 6pm.  If you know a candidate who is going please consider proposing them and seeing them through the Third Degree and become eligible for the “Shining Armor Initiative”.

May 21st Cecilia Richardson is having a cookout for all the catechists in the parish.  She has asked the Knights to help with the cooking.  She has said there will be about 175 +/- people there so this will take a few grills.  I think this is a good opportunity for people to see, if they haven’t already, the knights in action as well as a potential for new Knights!  If you have a grill that we may use and is easy to move please consider helping us out.  Thank You!

Bring your nominations to the May meeting so that we may vote during the June meeting.

It is time to start thinking about the T-Bones game and if you would like to attend.  Me and a few others went last year and had a GREAT time with our families and brother knights!  Get you numbers together so that at the May meeting we can get an idea of how many tickets we will need.

Janey’s Over the Hill Ride is coming up Sunday June 25th.  This is an awesome event to take part in, especially if you like motorcycles!  Over 400 bikes last year all together for one cause!  I will appoint somebody at the next meeting to head this up so please attend the monthly meeting and get involved.

Our Ladies Auxiliary is in the process of getting chartered.  Our next step is getting the ladies together so that they can elect their officers.  I will be overseeing everything that happens so guys if your wives would like to become a part of this please email me.

On May 1st our council was presented with the charter for the Boyscouts Troop 214.  I breifly spoke with them and extended to them how appreciative we as Knights are to be associated with such a great group of men!  Thanks Troop 214, we look forward to serving you!
