Blood is the only thing that cannot be manufactured.  Without donors many lives of hospital and accident patients are placed in jeopardy of losing their life.  This ministry works with the Community Blood Center of Kansas City (CBC) to make it easier for individuals to donate whole blood. We publish information about the blood drives through the weekly Sunday Bulletin and the St. James NetWork

Our six blood drives are held on the last Tuesday of January, March, May, July, September and November.  (The date of the May blood drive is adjusted as needed.)  In July, we hold one special blood drive called “Battle of the Badges.”  This is a contest between the Liberty Fire and Police Departments.  Each registered donor gets to vote for their favorite department.  The winner gets their name posted on a plaque.

Joe Barry and his wife Eileen coordinate each drive and refreshment serving.  The ministry also provides baby sitting for donors.  The Boy Scouts help by setting up the tables and chairs for the blood drive and the Knights of Columbus assist in the cleanup after the drive.

Blood donors are individuals who recognize the need for donating their blood to help save someone’s life.  Each unit of blood can serve three hospital patients.

We hope that you can join us in our next Blood drive!
