Presentation:
Leann Carr was present to
update the council on the Prayer Garden.
The garden is located on the east side of the church, featuring Stations
of the Cross, statues, a rosary garden with stepping stones representing each
bead of the rosary, and the brick memorial cross. A fountain was added this
spring, and the roses, and flowers add to the beauty of the garden. They
continue to receive orders for memorial bricks which are $75. She said everything in the prayer garden has
been donated, as well as time volunteered for maintenance. She also said there are other things they
have in mind to do such as a cover for the patio and patio furniture, and that
if anyone had any suggestions or could assist with caring for the garden to let

5) Approve 2001-2002 Parish Budget:
Annette D’Angelo
and Molly Doherty presented the parish and school budgets. Annette pointed out utilities were up considerably this past
year, and there were salary increases due to hiring two extra staff
members. The proposed budget is
$1,766,000 for the coming year, an increase of $66,000 over last year. One of
her major concerns is getting the 1/3 of our parish who contribute nothing to
help support our parish. She is hopeful
the new Evangelization ministry will help with additional income. Molly reported they have cut some areas in
the school budget such as textbooks, field trips, etc. She said they are trying to recruit school
families to fill the lower grades.
Kindergarten has 46 registered with only two spots to fill, but other
grades have several vacancies. If
school families can recruit another family they will give 10% off their
registration fees. She said the PTO
approved $10,000 for a Spanish Teacher.
After discussion, Steve made a motion to accept the proposed budget,
seconded by Mike. The motion was
approved.
