MEMBERS PRESENT: John Alvey, Mary George, Chuck Koesterer, Mike Jones, Kimberly Lay, Bobbi Roman, Joe Ross, Larry Stanley, and Father Joe

MEMBERS ABSENT:  Joshua Barlett, Dave McDonald, and John Talbot

The meeting was conducted by president of the board, Chuck Koesterer.  The May minutes were approved following a motion by Mike Jones, seconded by Joe Ross.  The June agenda was approved.

Old Business:

1.      Discerning God’s call for the Parish Meetings – follow-up

Father Joe said they should complete the discernment at the meeting May 20th.  He has been pleased with the process with Larry Kramer’s guidance and the commitment of parishioners who have helped on this project.

2.  Pictorial Directory

Chuck said the signs are up for the pictorial directory, and that it is very easy to make an appointment for your photo on the parish web site.  It was also mentioned that Carrie Roberts, chairperson for the directory, wants ideas for the cover of the directory.  She also needs all ministry group pictures by August 1st.

New Business:

1.   Father Matt Link’s welcoming gathering

There will be a reception May 25th and 26th after Masses to meet Father Matt.  The Knights have offered to take care of the reception.

2.  Update on Director of Liturgical Music search

Father Joe said they have had good response to the ads for a liturgy director, and are currently interviewing.  They hope to have the position filled by July 1st.

3.   Ministry regrouping based on the new directory

The following council members volunteered for the four ministry groups:

Activities: Mary George and Larry Stanley

Education: Chuck Koesterer and Bobbi Roman

Liturgy: Mike Jones and Joe Ross

Groups: John Alvey and Dave McDonald

Chuck said there would be no changes to the By-laws.  This year’s officers will serve a two year term.   There are no new council members since it was decided not to have a discernment process this year.

Ministry Reports:

Youth: Bobbi Roman

Three from the Youth Group attended the mission trip to Jefferson City helping with an outreach program.  Registrations for confirmation are taking place now.  Confirmation group leaders are needed.

School: Chuck Koesterer

School enrollment is 290.  There are 30 kindergarteners.

Internal Human Concerns: Mary George

Stephen Ministry is recruiting, and will have a new training session.  They obtained several names over the weekend for new ministers.

Parish and Family Life: Joe Ross

Goeff Hagins was present to give a progress report on the upcoming Parish Feast Day Art and Music Fair.  He said the entertainment slots are almost filled, and he has 18 vendor booths registered.  He presented several children’s activities.  It was decided by the council to have a moonwalk with slide combo.  Goeff also said the Knights are doing a meal.

Year of the Eucharist – Father Joe has talked to a speaker; however, no date has been set.

Administration and Stewardship: Chuck Koesterer

The 2005 budget was handed out to members.  Chuck noted the income projected is $90,000 less than last year.  They tried to be realistic and juggle some things.  After review of the budget, if members have any further questions you may contact Father Joe or Len Platt.

Pastor’s Comments:

1.      Beth Kazanowski is the new parish bookkeeper.  She will be working together with Len.

2.      We are trying to put together a stewardship section in the bulletin to include “Time, Talent, and Treasure.”  Receipts are being included in the bulletin once a month.

3.       Wants to redo the whole liturgy committee to work together as a team.

4.      Thanks to Kimberly Lay for her service to the council.  This is her last meeting.

The next business meeting will be Monday, August 8th at 7:00 p.m.  Opening and closing prayer will be by Bobbi Roman.
