AGENDA
1. Discernment- Discussion was held on how the next Discernment process will be
held. Discussion was held about the number of members that were presently on
the council and if that number was adequate, or it needed to be reduced.
The Discernment Committee will meet to discuss these matters and have
Information back to the council by the January meeting. ( John Alvey, Bobbi
Roman, Chuck Koesterer, Kim Lay)
2. Fundraising Committee Review- Father Joe would like to see a list of
fundraising at St. James. Discussion was held with the thought of if there were
too many fundraising projects. John Alvey, Len Platt, and Mike Jones are on the
fundraising review committee. A list will be provided.
3. Mission Statement Review- Father Joe made a suggestion on restructuring St.
James Mission Statement. A draft was presented to the council as a suggestion.
Next meeting, every member of the board may volunteer their thoughts, and take
Suggestions from the Strategic Planning Committee.
MINISTRY REPORTS
Liturgy- Mike Jones will ask Sr. Mary Joe about the way we go to communion. If there is another alternative. Mike has heard good comments about Fr Joe from the congregation.
Prayer- No Report
Youth- Bobbi Roman reports that the fundraising project for the youths has started. Also there will be a Lockout on Nov. 19th
Communications- The expanded bulletin has started. Hopes are to keep it more uniformed.
Christian Formation- Generations of Faith has signed up nearly 80 families. It was reported that a family could be just one person and everyone is invited to attend.
Catholic Organizations- John Alvey reported that the Over 50’s group was doing their annual food drive. Sacks were given out at the Masses this past weekend.
School- Chuck Koesterer reported that the school is looking into card readers instead of keys to access the school building. It would allow more security, and not have a problem with keys being distributed or being lost.
Although no official totals were given, the school auction was considered another success.
Internal Human Concerns- Mary George reported that the neighborhood greeters will be reorganized. It will try and be done on a smaller scale, giving new members names of St. James parishioners who live close to them. ( in a two block radius)
External Human Concerns- Vicki Vinton reports that a group will be going down to El Pinar in February. The group will consist of 6 individuals. They would like someone from the youth to attend. The goal is to help put a roof on one of the Chapels.
Parish and family Life- Joe Ross reported that the Young Married Group met on Sunday to watch the Chiefs game and enjoy fellowship. A Marriage encounter will be held on Nov. 13th.
