Community Outreach

Our Community Outreach Ministries impact not only the ministries we partner with but our own members as well.  This is a perfect opportunity to help each of us grow in our walks and put our faith into action!

  • Hillcrest Ministries – This ministry provides ten apartments in a transitional housing environment. St. James provides up    to ninety days of free housing for those needing temporary housing assistance. Parishioners  provide support    such as cleaning, painting, groceries for the first week, home furnishings, towels, dishes, etc.  Find out more…
  • Immacolata Thrift Shop – The Immacolata Thrift Shop was organized to help support the handicapped women residents living at Immacolata Manor. The thrift shop, located at 931 Brown Street, accepts donated items (clothing, kitchen items, linens, toys and other general merchandise) from our generous community. A volunteer staff sorts, prices, displays, and sells the merchandise. The shop is open to the general public. Proceeds are given to Immacolata Manor to be used for the benefit of the women residents.   • In As Much Ministries – An emergency food pantry for Clay County, we serve approximately 300 families each month. We are open on Thursday from 10:00 to 11:30 am and 1:00 to 2:30 pm and on Saturday from 9:00 am to 12 noon. Other programs for the needy are children’s school supplies and Christmas Tree gifts. Vouchers are given for prescriptions, milk, eyeglasses and emergency services. Volunteers are always welcome. At St. James three organized food drives are scheduled during the year, but anytime you wish to donate food you may leave it in the shopping cart in the blue room off the Narthex.   • Love, INC (Love In the Name of Christ – Love, INC is a non-profit in Clay County meeting emergency assistance and basic needs of low income individuals and families. St. James is a partner church of Love In the Name of Christ providing financial, prayer, and volunteer support. Love, INC provides over 30 Gap Programs (Basic Needs) which are supported by St. James. Donations are gathered in the Narthex. Love, INC screens and verifies all requests for service before assisting or referring to over 160 agencies in the Northland.  Find out more…
