St. James Peru Mission Committee is happy to offer for sale Fair Trade Coffee beans. It is available for sale through the parish office (contact Sharon 781-4343 extension 202). It is also sold in the parish Center on 5th Sundays (when the Knights of Columbus offer breakfast in the parish Center).
One pound pouches can be purchased for $15.00. Available in regular and medium roast.
Buying this coffee improves the livelihood of the coffee farmer as he gets a fair price for his coffee. The farmer receives $1.40 per pound for coffee sold through fair trade organizations, in comparison to other large coffee companies which pay the farmer 3 cents per pound! For each pound of coffee you purchase, $5.50 goes to the Peru mission fund.
Indigenous Dream is the brand name of the coffee we buy from our supplier. Our supplier assures us that the coffee he provides to our parish is from Peru.
We are selling this coffee as a token gesture of our desire for social justice in international commerce. We also think its great coffee!
Thanks to the many parishioners who have purchased this coffee!
